Just random speculation here, but I am wondering if there is some kind of connection between the arrest of the white Muslim lawyer in Portland Saturday and the discovery of Peter Berg's body on Saturday in Iraq.

The lawyer, Brandon Mayfield, was taken into custody because his fingerprint was identified on a shopping bag of detonators in Madrid just after the series of synchronized bombings on trains back on March 11. The detonators were activated by cell phones. This is a common ploy used by Al Quaeda lately, especially in simultaneous bomb attacks in a city - a similar series rocked Casablanca, Morocco last May. The majority of the many suspects in the Madrid attack are Moroccan Muslims.
Nick Berg was in Iraq supposedly to set up some kind of cell phone service there. When I read "cell phone" I immediately thought of the terrorist attack tactic. Who funded this trip of his, and did he have any equipment or technology with him? Who would he seek out to be partners or clients?

Besides Israel, what other countries were stamped on his passport?

Probably an African country.

But let me guess, according to the tinfoilers here, that must have meant he wasn't making bricks there, but looking for AQ to ally with.

CIA Says Berg Killed by Terrorist Leader Al-Zarqawi, AP Reports

May 13 (Bloomberg) -- The Central Intelligence Agency said terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi killed Nick Berg, a 26-year- old American who was kidnapped and beheaded in Iraq, the Associated Press reported, citing an unidentified CIA official.

The CIA determined that al-Zarqawi is most likely Berg's killer after analyzing a video showing Berg's execution, AP said. On the tape, the person determined to be al-Zarqawi and wearing a mask and headscarf, reads a statement criticizing teachers of Islam, then kills Berg, AP reported.

Berg, whose body was found Saturday in Baghdad, was in Iraq to find work on communications towers.

U.S. authorities have said Berg entered Iraq from Jordan and was arrested by Iraqi police near Mosul on March 24, AP reported.
