The father made a strange comment today ... he said that Nick quit the Boy Scouts because they were going to force him to go to some military base and fire a handgun. Somehow, the lefty Dad thought that displayed something about Nick that gave him more of a victim status, something that should have provided him an affinity with the Islamist scumbags who slit his throat.

After having 3 sons in scouts, all I can say is that is strange. The average boy can't wait to shoot bee bee rifles let alone a pistol.

A strange statement- in these parts, the BSA only allows air rifles and .22 rifles, no handguns or centerfire rifles are allowed (for official Scout operations; one Scout shoots a mousegun in hipower matches, but on his own and wit his mom.) I think that is a national BSA policy; I was told that while RO-ing a troop at the range.
And Scouts FORCING a boy to go to a base and shoot handguns?
