You no doubt base that wild assertion on the fact that you have probably never seen them fly, right?

Whales, expecially the large species, fly all the time. Infact, a swimming whale is virtually an impossibility. The only difference is that the fluid in which they fly is water ....but it is not swimming. The mechanics are very different.
