Actually there was a french doctor who during the revolution
was beheaded, and told his friends he would continue to blink his eyes as long as he was concious, I think it was
over a hundred or so.

Although I downloaded the film, I don't wish to see it again at the moment. Just look after the final cutting when the executioner raises his arm with the head in hand. I could have sworn that the eyes were still blinking.

Yup. I've read something about that. I think there were other experiments along this line among those who knew they were headed to the guillitine(sp).
