I wasn't crazy about this guy's statement, so I read up a bit.....he's very wishy-washy when it comes to Iran's involvement in terrorism. He thinks there's no proof of Iran's terrorist connections.

Nicholas D. Kristof is certainly correct that the Iranians will throw off the yoke of the mullahs, and the best evidence of that eventuality is that the Iranians threw off the yolk of an American-installed dictator whose regime was no stranger to torture chambers.

The word you're looking for here, Mr. Zimmerman, is yoke. A yolk is the part of an egg that serves as the source of nutrition for an embryo within. Hey Slimes editors, what's the matter with you? Don't you guys clean up the spelling and grammatical errors on the letters you print, unless it's the conservative letter full of mistakes that you print once a month so your readers can have a laugh?

From his perspective, the Iranian revolution was really a middle-class affair — significantly spurred on by a phalanx of Iranian students educated in the United States and intoxicated by democracy — that was hijacked by the hard-core Islamists.

I knew some of these folks at the University of California, Santa Barbara, in the latter 70s (via a Farsi-speaking American). Believe me, they were not at all "intoxicated by democracy." It was socialism (and communism) they were infatuated with.

Came the revolution, a number of them went back home and were never heard from again.
