CAMP TAQQADUM, Iraq - A Marine patrol near Husaybah took note of a child playing with an unusual object May 5. The object looked like it could be part of an improvised explosive device. The Marines quickly moved the child away to a safe distance and secured the area. Marines found the object to be an anti-personnel mine rigged as an IED buried in the ground. The patrol coordinated for an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team to dispose of the mine. It was detonated in-place later in the day. Unit officials said the Marines' "excellent attention to detail" prevented the loss of lives and equipment

Pro-troops news is viewed as a boon to Bush and is therefore unnewsworthy to the networks.

Sure. They'll report that they saved the kid so that the could be beaten and raped at Abu Gharib later.

Thats only one but its one of the unnoticed many good stories. One that sticks out in my mind is the soldier who saved an old woman trapped on a bridge.

Good work Marines.

Do you suppose this will make the Evening News tonight? No.. But that kid's uncle or brother or cousin will go out tonight and maybe kill a couple of American Soldiers..
The soldier's deaths will be mentioned.. in passing, just as a statistic..
The Jihadist cares not if you save his son or not, other than you just saved someone that they can raise to kill you..

Doesn't say whether it was a female or male child.
If the Marines saved the life of a little Muslim girl, then God help them and Allah help her; the Muslims get absolutely P*SSED when one of their girls survives an honor killing. It was her duty to lead the Marines to die form the IED, and she failed her duty to Allah and her family.

That's beautiful. One of the many stories of heroism and compassion that comes out of Iraq and Afghanistan. I remember reading about another soldier, though, who gave his life to save a child who was innocently playing with an explosive device. He pushed the child away and fell on it. May God bless him for his sacrifice.
From what I have seen in my travels to places where there are large Muslim populations though, they do love their children. I would imagine that seeing your child's life saved by a foreign soldier, even a supposed 'hated infidel', would still merit gratefulness and thanks. I believe this can be confirmed by those who know these places better than I. It's only in the Palestinian refugee camps' ingrained culture of martyrdom that they involve children in suicide brigades. Normally childrens' lives are valued much higher than this in the Islamic tradition, from what I have heard.

Ping!Thank you for posting CENTCOM news, Excuse_My_Bellicosity.
Thanks for the ping, 2111USMC. I'd re-ping the crew on this one, but think I'll continue hiding news in other threads. (^:

They will not ask that question. That way they can report that "the Marine public affairs officer DID NOT DENY that the child was taken to Abu Ghraib prison and beaten and raped."
