Rep. Bill Thomas:Kerry's Health Care Plan would Raise Taxes and Increase Government Bureaucracy

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, U.S. Rep. Bill Thomas (R-CA), chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, issued the following statement regarding John Kerry's health care plan:

"John Kerry's health care plan would raise taxes and increase government bureaucracy without doing anything to decrease health care costs for American families.

"The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that premiums for medical malpractice insurance would have dropped by an average of 25 to 30 percent under legislation passed by the House of Representatives last year. Kerry skipped a vote on a similar bill in the Senate and has opposed or voted to block medical liability reform at least ten times. That's ten missed chances for greater access to affordable health care.

"John Kerry opposed the President's Prescription Drug bill and then boasted of having fought against legislation that is providing seniors with affordable prescription drugs and giving them more choices."

Forgive me for my ignorance on the subject, but could someone "in the know" explain to me how the heck FJK could think that he'll get his universal health care passed through, when Shrillary tried to do the same, and was soundly rejected?
