WARSAW (Reuters) - A sexually excited stallion bit a Polish man to death when he tried to calm the beast, which had become uncontrollably aroused by a nearby mare, police said.

"The 24-year-old man, identified as Robert R., was bitten when he tried to calm his horse, which had become unsettled by the presence of a mare in the vicinity," a duty officer in the Baltic port of Szczecin told Reuters.

The horse went wild and began straining and bucking while pulling a farm cart through the village.

An autopsy would determine whether the direct cause of death was a severed jugular vein or damaged spine, the officer added.

I can reach no set conclusion on this story, given that we are not informed as to the disposition of all related llamas.

Who would drive a horse that wasn't gelded?

My neighbors show driving horses. And they would NEVER use a stallion.

In fact, yesterday they came by the house with a young male that was gelded last Friday. They were out walking it to help heal after the surgery.

They say that pulling a cart is the most dangerous thing you can do with a horse.

Pulling a cart with a stallion seems insane.

I know in Wyoming that people will shoot a stallion if it is running loose around riders on other horses, especially children.

I seem to recall a state brand inspector doing so once.

A stud horse in heat is no pet, it is a dangerous beast whom will harm or kill a human very quickly interering with the intended task at hand.
