Thanks for the post.
Every time you read or hear anyone on the Bush team directly, as opposed to the media portrayal, you are struck by their intelligence and maturity.
To me, it emphasizes four major points: (1) Bush has assembled a remarkably able and intelligent team, (2) they use their staffs extremely well, letting them make input, listening, and going with those closest to the problem and who have the responsibility to get the job done, (3) anyone who sits back and throws rocks at these guys is in way over their heads, for that very reason - it's not one guy's informed opinion, but a reasoned distillation from the input of many very intelligent people, and (4) if anyone doubted the effectiveness of 24/7 liberal bashing from the lamestream press, insidious, pervasive, unrelenting, then the questions confirmed their baleful influence.
Anyone hoping that the collective voices of talk radio, conservative websites like this, alternative news sources like FOX, Newsmax and The Washington Times, and RNC's reliance on emails are making a substantial impact is misleading themselves. This is the sort of media abuse that means Bush winning the election will be a close run thing. Kinder, gentler is being steamrollered.
Dubya needs to more fully utilize his face time with the public. Not just repeating the overall message, but correcting disinformation (Wolfowitz outline is a good start, but relentless), giving the full story (to counter the media's exclusively negative slant), and using his critics own words against them (when did JFK, HRC, WJC, TK et. al. call for action against Saddam because he had WMDs),
It has to be Dubya. As great as Wolfowitz was here, the media will give him no face time in front of the public to repeat it. Bush needs to get ready to delve into the "other Aug. 6, 2001 memo (the one that says our efforts to track terrorist activity is being subverted by Gorelick's Wall), to remind media that Iraq is not Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh did not attack a US skycraper, and pulling out of Vietnam did not make him more likely to do so), to show pictures of Iraqi families leaving Falujah giving our Marines the "thumbs up" of approval for ridding their cities of terrorists. Specific images to counter an avalanche of bias.
Remember, the media (and the liberals) got us to chase our tails out of Vietnam, even though we had won the war. Unfortuantely, the media had won over the US public's hearts and minds to their bias and left wing slant.
