Maybe the sedation is for the same reason some doctors now believe pre-born babies should be sedated before they're aborted (late-term abortions). To alleviate some of the "discomfort".

Oh, I do hope these new suspects are not being humiliated in any way during interrogation. The whole world would turn against Pakistan if they mistreated their prisoners like that.
