He could have very easily been in Spain with no record. He could have flown into any other EU country, been picked up by an accomplice and driven across the Spanish border. There really are no effective borders in the EU. Then housed by his team mates and again with no record.
As for the fingerprints, I have no idea.

The Spanish are doing this the 1990s Clinton way. Theyve arrested probably most if not all of the bombers, but so what??? How will it prevent the next undected terrorist cell from blowing another target?
It may be time for govts to begin to do what Chile and Argentina did in the 1970s. Thousands of people simply disappear.
