With all due respect to Marines, I thank God that I went through Signal Corps basic at Camp Gordon, GA in early 1951. It was about like a Boy Scout encampment. One of our DIs one morning told us he could see why we were in the Signal Corps. He said "I don't see a man here who could make it in the Infantry". I doubt that I could have lived through USMC basic.
