Army chief of staff Schoomaker: he is responsible for soldiers' training and readiness. We are dealing with conscious acts contrary to army values taught to soldiers from entry. Potential consequences serious, but these are a few among a great many others -- will affect morale and safety of great majority. They too take this personally. inexcusable behavior of a few not representative.

Currently undergoing extensive investigation of every allegation. Have already taken corrective action. Army is taking it seriously.

Does anyone know why this hearing started at 11:45?

Seems strange, especially if Bob Kerrey probably has a lunch meeting with one of the senators.

Warner: rummy's phrase "we are goin to watch American democracy in action." In the meantime, the impact of the facts affecting our relationship with other nations, foreign policy. What is the impact? Will it affect transition June 30? Will it have impact other nations in coalition and chances of additional nations?

Rummy: tough questions. No on can know precisely what will unfold. We have seen no shift in coalition countries. re future coalition countries, depends on another UN resolution. Will not have any effect on determination to have Iraqis assume sovreignty June 30.

We have been disadvantaged by false allegations and lies by terrorists and terrorist orgs. Wehave taken a beating for allegations, now understandably for things that did happen.
