PFC England, the one with the inmate on the leash is from Ridgeway, W.V...one of Byrd's constituents. She was married for about a year and then divorced because her husband couldn't adjust to her military service. She is pregnant by one of the other soldiers serving with her.
This info was in today's New York Post. She claims on her nights off, or when she was through work, she would go over to the other side of the prison where her boyfriend was and visit with her friends.
First of all, no one but the people actually on duty at the various parts of the prison should have been inside the prison. Off-duty visitors should have been ruled out. There should have also been metal detectors set up for the staff to go through, and all packages searched upon entrance. Cameras should have been considered contraband and not allowed unless specific permission had been received from whoever was in charge. It seems that supervisory staff was extremely lax in doing their job. From what I understand the abuse occurred on one specific shift of soliders...probably evenings or midnights when supervisor presence is usually limited.
