The White House announced Thursday that United States National Security Advisor, Condoleezza Rice, will meet Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia in Germany on May 17. Rice will be the highest ranking U.S. official to meet the Palestinian prime minister.
A source in the White House said that Rice will call on Qureia to recognize that Sharon's disengagement plan offers a historic opportunity to advance the Road Map peace plan.

Only the first two paragraphs of this article deal with the title.
Well, Rice met with Abu Mazen the first PLO terrorist "PM" so its time to meet with Abu Ala (or Ahmed Queria as the West calls him) the 3rd in line after terrorist leader Yasser Arafat. If the murders of those 5 children and their mother didn't do anything to stop this "peace" process, nothing will.
And what's this stuff about Sharon's plan? Why is the US continuing to back it? It was defeated democratically the other day in Israel by vote.

And what's this stuff about Sharon's plan? Why is the US continuing to back it? It was defeated democratically the other day in Israel by vote. It was wasn't defeated "democratically", only within the Likud in a purely political sense. Sharon is going ahead in some form, and Peres is licking his chops at the opportunities being presented. And the US isn't a part of it anyway.
Why the US is engaging in this charade is beyond me. Queria, like the leaders of every palestinian organization I'm aware of, has as his sole objective the destruction of Israel. I appreciate that the Arabs can make GWB blink, but Queria isn't a negotiating partner.
Oslo, road map, bring Bob Hope back and make "Road" movies, this is all posturing, and imo the US is getting the short end of the stick. We're being made to look impotent in the face of Arab pressure, while the same Arabs are killing us in Iraq. As to Israel, I don't know, I doubt this amounts to anything.

You are correct, it was only defeated in the Likud. Nonetheless, the US should not be promoting some plan that hasn't been slated for execution by the Israeli gov.

My dad just called to tell me that he was listening to the radio and that Mark Levin was *outraged* over some breaking news that Bush is reversing himself re: Israel. Supposedly, after meeting with some arab tyrant, he now says that Israel should give up all the territories.
Is this for real? I haven't heard it and I can't find it on any wire services nor in FR breaking news!
Have you heard anything about this???

US policy never changed even before Bush's meeting with the Jordanian leader. There was never a change with regards to Israel in the first place. The US stills speak of "peace," "occupation," a state for terrorists and "settlements."

But my dad said that Levin was going bat$hit over Bush supposedly saying that Israel should get out of *all* the territories (not just Gaza, but also Judea and Samaria).

I heard it on the radio too, and that's how it will play in the press. If you read the transcript thread, President Bush, Jordanian King Discuss Iraq, Middle East (transcript), he didn't say that, but given the pressure exerted by the Arab world, a reasonable person could certainly conclude it's a reversal of position. Arabs are our allies, you know.

Father Bush = Son I don't believe that, but if I were trying to persuade a Kerry voter, I'd change the topic. How do you feel about taxes?

How do you feel about taxes? About the same way I feel about paying them.
