Rummy's been one of my favorites in the admin and it's killing me to see him most likely losing the job.

Rummy might be let go soon. If so, then blammo Bush is done cause it'll put the entire war effort into the realm of 'it was all a mistake to listen to Rummy'.

If Rummy stays, all the calls for him to resign are going to build for awhile, and I'm not sure if Bush is strong enough in the election to absorb it now.

Please, nobody bother to respond unless you actually debate my ideas, no more attacks on me.

Been looking for a place to jump into the conversation that wouldn't include getting flamed...

Honestly, I don't think Rumsfeld is going to lose his job. It would be hard to find someone to fill the post as resolutely as he has, and I think the President knows this.

Calls for his resignation will build for a while, yes. But they'll stop as soon as the liberals find another issue to cling to. After awhile, they're not going to be able to make the same political hay.

This is a PERFECT example of your M.O. on FR.

President Bush said WITHIN THE HOUR that Rumsfeld is NOT going anywhere, yet here you are STILL saying he's losing his job.

Well, sure and the sun "might" rise in the west tomorrow, too, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it if I were you.

If this, if that. I have a few "ifs" for you.... IF you think for one minute that President Bush is about to throw out one of his most valuable and trusted cabinet members then you need to stop listening to "the voices". IF you think that anyone who may have been present when President Bush and Secretary Rumsfeld discussed the mistreatment of those Iraqi prisoners would DARE leak any portion of their discussion to the press then you've read waaaay too many Bob Woodward books.
