Last time I checked the United States is supposed to be held to different standards than a bunch of Islamic thugs.

This whole incident has me thinking of an old friend of mine that fought in the Pacific Theatre in WWII. He told me stories of how brutal we (Americans) were towards the Japanese. Stories of disabling Japanese merchant ships and then using them for target practice (with all hands on deck); machine gunning enemy soldiers in the water; mercilessly shelling Tokyo for three days straight with no regard for where in particular their shells landed. He had no apologies for what he or America did in that war. He just said that 'that's the nature of war'.

Now we have to ask ourselves if the nature of war has changed that much? Is it possible to 'kill them with love'? Will that show weakness and just prolong the war? I don't know the answer yet, but I sure as hell hope we aren't going down the wrong path.

Robin Wright on Debra Norville's program just made a huge Freudian slip. I was flipping toward Dennis Miller from Hannity and stopped just long enough to hear this exchange. Debra asked Robin if there is anything 'big enough' that can be done to save the situation in the Arab world. She answered - tearing down the prison, releasing thousands of the prisoners who have not been convicted of anything, and resignations of high-ups in the Pentagon and the administration "might inflict enough damage."

If I didn't want to see this whole issue disappear from the airwaves, I would wish that Rush or Sean would play the clip as instructive of Robin Wright's true feelings.

In fact, the most important thing that this Godly President understands, is that we are in a spiritual battle against evil. There's not a cowardly bone in his body, which is evidenced by this courageous War on Terror that he's waging.

That's what the left hates about him........and perhaps some around here as well....... he's strong, and he understands the stakes.

Actually I think some of these so called atrocities photos should be framed and hung in the National Gallery in DC. We all are'nt sucked in by the Islamic "humiliation" canard. It's called "War", time to grow a spine.

Excellent point, Cobalt. People in the REAL military are embarrassed by this behavior because it shows a lack of the discipline and high moral standards that they are trained to uphold.

It's these armchair generals sitting in dark rooms by their keyboards that exhude machismo in the safety of their own homes.

I understand what you are saying about war. It is brutality on an industrial scale for all concerned.

But what President Bush is saying (if I understand him correctly) is that we can't win this conflict by sheer force and firepower. We have to win hearts & minds, and we do that by giving them liberty and democracy.

My father accuses Bush of sloppy thinking ("the world as it should be, rather than the world as it is"). But I think my father too cynical and leftist. And I am backing the President 100%

Islamism is as totalitarian an ideology as has ever existed. When Islamists are politically weak, they preach love, tolerance, brotherhood, and portray themselves as victims. Whenever they take over a nation, the penalty for doctrinal deviance is death. Many Muslims have come over here to live under secular government and so escape the lunatics who have taken over their homelands. Iranians come immediately to mind.

But to constantly try to assuage the sentiments of those who delight in our destruction and want to turn Western civilization into subjugated vassal states is madness. For Bush to apologize for the actions of these military personnel is unconscionable. Had we treated them the way they treat us, then certainly stern justice would need to be applied.

Psychological harassment and humiliation hardly qualifies. Bush has sold us out again.
