As have so many "disasters" that the press played up as the end of Bush. So far the outrage I have seen among the public is directed at the guards who took the pictures. Only the Democrats, the press, and the Arabic propaganda machine is blaming Bush. The only response Bush has shown so far is to the Arabic propaganda machine: I think he realizes the real potential for damage is among the Arabs, not the American public.

Well, then, Prop 187 would be an excellent keystone for a campaign. Focus on the courts overturning the will of the people. Bush nominated a qualified but COINCIDENTLY Hispanic judge who the Dems shot down. Another qualified judge who COINCIDENTLY was African-American. There is a governor who played by the rules who is an immigrant.
What the hell is it going to take to light a fire under the ass of those people. Maybe Tom McClintock should stop combing his hair and praticing his "hard guy" look and step away from the mirror long enough to be a team player. But then again, it's a bit hard to do when your pouting.
Califiornia is fertile ground to plant the seed of sanity and it can roll over the state in a big way if the people just got with the program.

this "apology" does not show weakness to the Arabs, I don't buy that, I don't see how it emboldens the Arabs. I don't see why a new group of Iraqis picks up an RPG and says "Bush apologized, let's go out and hit a US convoy". There is no connection that I see there.

FDR goes on the radio to apologize for the internment of Japanese-Americans, lack of Black civil rights, and not letting woment serve in the front line army units. This just gives comfort to out enemies.

Bush needed to take the focus off the BUSH DOESN'T APOLOGIZE rant from the left. It was distracting from the bigger picture, the war on terror, and making it stupidly personal. This "apology" will shut them up. At the same time most will have the intelligence to see that saying you are sorry something happened is not the same as taking responsibility for it. They were making Bush out to be "mean" because he would say he is sorry. The parsed themselves right out of the arguement.

Saying sorry without even actually taking responsibility. Almost Clinonesque... :-)
