President Bushj says he is sorry for the humiliation suffered by Iraqi prisoners at the hands of U.S. troops. Details soon.
(Excerpt) Read more at cnn.com ...
They don't fight under the terms of the UCMJ or our Constitution.
Their intent is to kill every one of us, and our's must be the same.
Our President's resolve hasn't weakened in the slightest, and those who think it has just don't know this bulldog.
Those who are saying that this apology desecrates the memory of all those who have died are not considering the shame that will occur if Kerry is elected to the highest office.
GW's resolve would be worth no more than a bucket of warm spit.
This is a bump in the road.
Let's cut him some slack and get on with the business of protecting this country.
You know absolutely NOTHING about Jimmy Carter, and you know LESS than nothing about George W. Bush.
You are clearly one who is offended by the President's faith, and knows nothing about what true faith in Christ means.
It doesn't make one weak. It makes one strong.
It doesn't make one a sniveling coward, and it does NOT negate a steel backbone or courage to do the hard things.
In fact, true faith ENABLES one to do the difficult, unpopular things.
Do a little investigation into the reality of Christianity. Do a little investigation into the personality and resolve of George W. Bush. And do a lot of investigation into the Person of Jesus Christ...... and then pray.
When you come to the understanding that you have spoken in total ignorance (regardless of your political 'know how'), come back and let us know.
Until then, you'd be best not to embarrass yourself with such anti-Christian babble....
They won't ... and the public will notice it also
Bush should apologize to the troops for apologizing to the Arab world. If he wants to fight this war like a Christian, he would do well to study the life and work of George S. Patton.
Let me show you the chain of events and you can judge for yourself who is spreading disinformation through ignorance.
1. I read Howlin's reply to Sarasota (Post #7):
Rush said a few minutes ago, that if Bush apologizes, it's all over for him

All over for who? Bush? Is Rush not enough of a man to apologize for something that happened to humiliate a group of people?

2. I started typing a reply, but got a phone call. I complete what I'm typing and hit post. (post #65)

If you apologize for something you didn't do, didn't have a hand in doing, and didn't know was happening you take upon yourself direct responsibility for what happened.
In this case he's saying 'It was my fault' by saying 'I'm sorry' unless he states it just right. He would be far better served by saying that he's ashamed and appalled and that those responsible will pay.
Now that he said 'I'm sorry' (if indeed he used those words) the press can freely blame him directly for what happened. Not a good thing.

3. Howlin Replies (post 136):

Do you not realize that Bush speaks for this ENTIRE country, even the dolts that did this in Iraq?
It's his JOB to take responsibility for ALL our citizens, whether YOU like it or not.
He would be far better served by saying that he's ashamed and appalled and that those responsible will pay.
You didn't hear the press conference, did you?

4. My response(Post 192):

"Do you not realize that Bush speaks for this ENTIRE country, even the dolts that did this in Iraq?"
Yes, of course I do. I guess responsibility wasn't the right term... I should have said that he is accepting that its his fault. It isn't his fault that this happened.
Unfortunately I did not hear the press conference and I started writing my post a long time before I had the chance to hit the 'Post' button.
Oh, lay off the caffeine friend, it makes you type in ALL CAPS.

Ok, notice that I mention that I didn't hear the press conference in that post,(Cubical bound) and that when I originally replied to Howlin that I use the phrases "Unless he states it just right." and "(if indeed he used those words)" in my reply. These might be some good clues to those who seek fault in others. I admit it, when I replied to Howlin I was ignorant of what the President said. My reply wasn't in any way putting words in the President's mouth nor was I mis-stating anything he said. I was saying that the President MUST be careful of how he states it or he will be seen as being at fault.
Now, in my first post I wrote "If you apologize for something you didn't do, didn't have a hand in doing, and didn't know was happening you take upon yourself direct responsibility for what happened." I should have written that last sentence as ...you take upon yourself direct fault for what happened." Now do you understand? Lets shrink wrap it for you:
If a person says I'm sorry for something they didn't do they accept fault for it. Had the President said he was sorry in the wrong way he would be seen as being at fault for it happening. ok? I think Howlin understood where I was coming from after post 192.
To assume that I meant that he accepted fault for it, well "That is absurd"
Coordinated attacks are their specialty. Is there really anything new about them?
The only thing new about their canned sanctimony and outrage are the words "Abu Ghraib". The rest is the same old prattle.
