I wonder how much influence the pope had/has on his people when a picture of him holding and then kissing the koran, is shown. In an allocution of August 19, 1985, at Casablanca, Morocco, Pope John Paul II was already assuring the young Muslims of his sympathy when he said: "The Catholic Church regards with respect your religious path, recognizes its worth and the riches of your spiritual tradition."

Americans should never stoop to their level. I agree - I am angry at the military personnel that did this, no argument there, it was flat-out wrong and despicable behavior that shouldn't be tolerated. But what I don't feel is sympathy for these Iraqi's. That is just how I feel on a personal level. Does that make sense?

Good point. What's even more disgraceful is that when the Vatican sends representatives to various U.N. conferences on population, women's rights, etc., it finds itself dealing with so-called "Christian" nations who are hell-bent on pursuing a Marxist culture of death in the world. The utter irony is that Islamic nations are consistently among the only ones on the Vatican's side in these debates.

The Hashashins, from which we get the term assassin, practiced clitorectomy.
This prevented female sexual release, which led to psychosis and sadistic tortures.
They'd hand prisoners to these unfortunates who'd torment them to death.
From this came the statement, "Whatever you do, don't let them hand you over to their women."
I am uncertain whether this particular barbaric practice is still performed, but judging from the article, it leads me to believe that it may be practiced in some places still.
And the feminists?
Mostly strangely silent about it.
Except for one or towo notables, but the NOW gang and Planned Parenthood are extremely silent about these practices.

Personally, I am glad that I am circumsized!
To: Mixer
We had our sons circumsised and no problems. Doctors back then said it was for cleanliness reasons, although my nephew was not circumsised and has also had no problems.

These fiends are not human beings. They are some form of animal. NO!!!! NOT SO!!! They are very much human; they are displaying the very worst of human nature. There but for the Grace of God go we. In our efforts to destroy the enemy, it is absolutely vital that we not become the enemy. This of declaring some people to be "animals", and not human beings is exactly the sort of thinking our enemies exhibit.

Consider also these 2 observations: (a) Men who are circumcised as adults, report a significant reduction in sexual pleasure afterwords, and (b) Women who have experienced both, almost invariably say that sex is better with an intact man.
Excuse me for saying so and I mean no offense to you for your comment and opinion but I am not going to raise my son or daughter with the belief that sexual pleasure will increase their quality of life. I have incredible sexual pleasure due to my choice of partners. I also have had bad experiences (less pleasure) in the past and attribute it to the same.

Maybe not Catholics, but definitely Catholicism. The Church was obviously ignorant of the historic fact that Allah is not, and was never, the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob.I'd like to emphasize that all your quotes were from Vatican Council II [as you clearly noted]. The Catholic Church had never used such language before. The authors of these documents have been accused of heresy before the highest tribunal in the Church, demanding that they judge the case presented [that of the accusation of Vatican II's heresies], using the full authority of the Catholic Church.
No judgement has been forthcoming.... close to 40 years and the Church's hierarchy still refuses to judge the case.
It is one of the reasons that Mel Gibson refuses to recognize Vatican II as authoritative [binding].

I am not going to raise my son or daughter with the belief that sexual pleasure will increase their quality of life. Well, I'm going to teach him the Christian view of sex. And I want him to enjoy his wife, and his wife to enjoy him.

So is male circumsisions. Oh my God! That is the most stupid statement I have read in quite a while! In fact, I would feel absolutely no guilt in calling you any number of terms describing low intellectual development, but I will refrain.
There is absolutely no equivalence between male circumcision and the procedure euphemistically referred to as female circumcision. Female "circumcision" involves the removal of the clitoris, an organ you may not know exists, unless you are a woman, which I doubt. This is the organ which women experience the pleasure of sex with. Since this organ is not absolutely necessary to reproduce, they don't extinct themselves by the practice. However, if the male penis were removed, which would be the most like a clitorectomy, it would extinct them, so they don't do that. Removing a piece of skin of barely a quarter of an inch on most (other) men causes no significant loss in the ability to experience sexual pleasure. It happened to me when I was a small baby, and I don't think I would know the difference today if it hadn't. However, a woman post-clitorectomy would definitely know the difference if it never happened.
Finally, to make such a comparison between men and women minimizes the harm that is caused to women by the procedure. I hope that, if you are married, which I doubt, that you are put in the position of having to debate with your spouse the equivalence of male circumcision and female "circumcision."

"It is disturbing that many Catholics have adopted a philosophical preference for Islam over Judaism." "---I'd be curious to know the source of this information." Neo-Marcion heresy is unfortunately quite the rage in much of the European and Middle Eastern christian (or should I say "christian"? ) theology circles.
They are calling for rejection of the Old Testament, replacing it with the Koran, and finding " a place to stand" for "christians" uner the supposedly protective banner of Islam. I don't know that it is especially Roman Catholic more than other denominations.
. A couple interesting sources to study would be orthovox.org and dhimmitude.org.
Hisorically, much, if not all, of christian anti-semitism has followed from the pernicious ideas of "Replacement Theology," that is, that God has abandoned the Jews and Israel because of disobedience. This self-righteous attitude is dangerous. If God has abandoned the Jews for their sins, how can we be sure He hasn't abandoned us for our sins? After all, WE CLAIM to understand the Messiah, to have MORE COMPLETE revelation, yet we act like dirtbags.

"Who are we to judge other cultures? That's just part of their way of life."
I recently heard comic Judy Gold saying that we went into Iraq because we arrogantly think that we know better how to run things than [presumably Saddam Hussein].
Well, when it comes to imprisoning children, putting people into plastic shredders [feet first so that thier agonizing death will that much more prolonged], filling mass-graves,etc., maybe the lovely Ms. Gold has a point.
I'm sure that her ilk believes that the only culture that should be condemned is that of the United States!

Conclusion
Imagine for a moment the life of a young Christian girl in an Islamic country, such as Sudan.
She is abducted from her parents in a slave raid at the age of four. She is given a new Islamic name and, under gunpoint, forced to pray as a Moslem. At age five, she is forced to undergo the torture of mutilation. At age six, she is engaged to a man ten times her age. At age nine, she is married and repeatedly forcibly raped. For the next year, she is beaten daily. At age ten, she is forcibly raped by another Moslem man, and is sentenced to death because of a charge of fornication. The night before her death, she is raped by a prison guard and assured that she will spend eternity in hell. The next day, she is whipped with lashes until she dies.
During her life, none of her perpetrators have once violated Islamic law. Everything she was subjected to was sanctioned by the "most merciful Allah."
This is not an overdramatization. This is real life. This is the biography of millions of girls. The fact that this is so horrific does not mean that it is not happening in numerous countries to thousands of girls as you read this right now.

No argument here. That statement was made after Khomeini took power. One of his first acts was to censor any pictures of himself in which he was smiling.

There is no comparison between the male and female procedures. To be equal, one half of the entire length of the penis would be hacked off.

This self-righteous attitude is dangerous. I don't know the full extent of "Replacement Theology," but the belief that God has "abandoned" Israel has a basis in the New Testament. In particular, the parables of the wedding feast (Matthew 22) the wicked husbandmen (Mark 12) and the great supper (Luke 14:16-24) clearly cast those who rejected Christ in a poor light.

(The words "nose candy" and the name Ted Rall belong in the same sentence.)
The females in these culture are crazy to even allow female babies to be born or live. I'm surprised the female suicide rate isn't higher. What do they have to live for?
As far as the Iraqi prisoner abuse, what really must tick them off is that a female soldier was humiliating the men. It kinda gives me a smile thinking about it.
