assaults the environment, rising unemployment, rising gas prices, rising hatred of us across the globe

Why are the first several items in your list simply a left-wing laundry list?

"Assaults on the environment?"

Please, elaborate...

"Rising unemployment?"

And the President is responsible for that? Spoken like a true socialist citing meaningless statistics. As if more government intervention would alleviate that! You want to see truly high unemployment rates? Look to Europe and the rest of the world!

"Rising gas prices?"

The market should decide that. Is that not the case?

"Rising hatred of us around the globe?"

What else is new?

Ah, yes, if the US would just "go along to get along" and subordinate its will to that of timid, socialist Europe or some such, instead of doing what is necessary.

Europeans claim to hate America for her questionable-at-times foreign policy. Support of Israel, etc., etc. That, of course, is just a convenient excuse.

The real reason Europeans hate America is simply that we're not socialist enough. We're too free, and too prosperous. The main impulse is, alas, jealousy. And it provides a very convenient external enemy which helps divert attention from Europe's own internal Tyrannical and essentially Marxist governmental systems, which have produced nothing but economic malaise, less freedom, and high unemployment.

And then at the end, of course, you threw in the Iraq War complaint, as if to equate it to the other leftist issues.

What a nice, tidy, schoolbook-simple world leftists live in.

Many Democrats, in the general populace and in elected office, disagree with you on the need for the Iraq War. The genuine, sometimes legitimate antiwar movement will continue to undermine itself if its adherents continue to denigrate, trvialize, and misunderestimate the nuances of the Iraq War issue.

BTW, one Democrat who I am sure is welcome among "crazy Republicans" is Zell Miller, the Democratic Senator from Georgia.

The real reason Europeans hate America

Europeans don't hate America. If you doubt this assertion, ask one this summer. Oh, haven't you heard? With the dollar at an all-time low against the Euro, foreign tourism is expected to be off the charts. It will probably be hard to see (or hear) a native in NYC or LA this summer.
