Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Allen Weh Speaks on Sen. Kerry's Troubling Defense Record
ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Today, Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Allen Weh continued the Winning the War on Terror Tour at a press conference in Albuquerque. Weh and Missouri State Representative Jack Jackson joined Bush-Cheney '04 supporters, family members of servicemen, and veterans in Albuquerque to highlight the effectiveness of the F/A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet.
John Kerry voted at least eight times against funding the F/A-18 in 1990, 1995 and 1996. These combat aircraft have flown thousands of sortiesincluding Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Today's Albuquerque event is the ninth event in the Winning the War on Terror Tour. The first was in Evendale, Ohio on Monday, April 26. Michigan, New Hampshire, Maine, Missouri, and Arizona have also hosted Winning the War on Terror press conferences, all highlighting John Kerry's troubling record on national security and his inconsistent support for our troops.
On Monday, April 26, the Bush-Cheney '04 Campaign released a new ad, "Weapons," airing in various markets and national cable stations.
John Kerry's Troubling Record on National Security
Vice President Cheney has addressed John Kerry's troubling record, saying, "I leave it for Senator Kerry to explain, or explain away his votes and his statements about the War on Terror, our cause in Iraq, the allies who serve with us and the needs of our military. Whatever the explanation, whatever nuances he might fault us for neglecting, it is not an impressive record for someone who aspires to become commander-in-chief in this time of testing for our country."
Many of the weapons systems that Kerry voted against are being used by our forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Winning the War on Terror Tour gives Bush-Cheney '04 supporters, including elected officials, veterans, and others, an opportunity to highlight the important role that these weapons play in fighting and winning the War on Terror.
