Rall receives death threats over Tillman cartoon

Cartoonist Ted Rall says he has received hundreds of death threats over a comic he did this week that satirized the media's response to the death of Pat Tillman, the former pro-football player killed in Afghanistan.

Some 300 of the messages threatened Rall with "death or bodily harm," he said, and he also said he had received several death threats by phone.

Universal Press Syndicate, which distributes Rall's comics to about 70 newspapers, has received several e-mails from readers who objected to the content of the comic, spokeswoman Kathie Kerr said.

He [Rall] also criticized the media's "decision to genuflect to a cult of death," which he said was "terrifyingly similar to the cult of Palestinian suicide bombers in the Middle East and the glorious coverage given by the Japanese during World War II to fallen kamikaze fighters."

Note the moral relativism--no distinction between good and bad. A soldier defending his country against armed enemies is no different than a teenager blowing himself up along with innocent women and children. This mindset baffles me--it absolutely baffles me.

Do the "threats of bodily harm" include vague warnings that his genitals should be enlarged? Because I'm pretty sure those are aren't threats. I don't doubt he gets 300 of those a day. Heck, my mother gets 300 of those a day.

Anyway, I don't know what his problem is. Why doesn't he follow his own advice? Instead of complaining about people who don't like him, he should try to figure out WHY people don't like him. Maybe he should appease those people so that they won't harm him.
