Some time during the day today I heard a radio clip of Kerry calling for Rumsfeld to resign. He also said he had called for Rumsfeld to resign months ago.

I did not hear the run up to the clip but somehow it is very UNLIKELY that it was a repeat of comments made long ago.

HERE IT IS NOW:

"...Despite calls for Rumsfeld, who reportedly knew about the prisoner abuses in January, to quit, Kerry refused to say whether he should step down over this controversy.

He criticized Rumsfeld for appearing before a Congressional committee and failing to tell members about the photographs. He also said it was clear that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Richard Meyers had not even read an executive summary of a military report on the abuses.

Delaware Sen. Joseph Biden, a Democrat, said someone had to take responsibility for the abuse and if blame went all the way to Rumsfeld's office, he should quit.

"This is a disaster of significant proportions," he said. "It calls for accountability and quickly."
