He is working on his base. He has to. Unions don't trust him. Environmentalists don't trust him. Blacks don't think much of him. The anti-war crowd doesn't trust him. Only the abortion lobby is solidly behind him so far.
His crowds have been tepid, at best. He's just not likeable.
