U.S. Troops to Lift Cordon Around Northwest Falluja
FALLUJA, Iraq (Reuters) - U.S. Marines said they planned to lift a security cordon around the volatile northwest of the city of Falluja on Wednesday and allow traffic in for the first time in a month.
The cordon had previously been tightly enforced in the hope of trapping guerrillas inside the Golan district, a hotbed of resistance to the U.S.-led occupation of Iraq (news - web sites).
"We expect to open the roads at checkpoints jointly manned by marines and Iraqi forces on Wednesday," Lieutenant-Colonel Gregg Olsen, commander of the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines Regiment, told Reuters.
"Other marines will realign their positions and move back but remain within support distance."
Troops of the U.S.-backed Iraqi Civil Defense Corps on Tuesday began manning checkpoints previously guarded by U.S. troops alone.
U.S. forces are hoping the new Falluja Brigade, predominantly made up of former members of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s military, will crush 2,000 rebels and root out perhaps 200 foreign militants.
The commander of the brigade, General Mohammed Latif, said on Tuesday the month of violence between fighters in the city and U.S. forces had been a misunderstanding stirred up by foreign guerrillas.

Darn - perhaps the ring leaders got away, and the rest have melted back into the city.

I don't know what's going on,why,or when,so Fallujah is just a puzzle that someday I may find out the truth about.Right now it's too confusing!

I don't know either. The blog at
The Belmont Club that I recall we already mentioned yesterday had gotten my hopes up that we might put some serious hurt on the enemy. But now I am back to being pessimistic on that.

Good. Maybe we can get some supplies through to Baghdad.
We're running low on some things...

Where does Baghdad's supplies come from?
And if Baghdad isn't getting supplies, what about the remote sites? What are they doing?
