The article explains quite clearly that it is the author's assumption that Bush and Santorum wanted to hold religious conservatives in check.... how silly. It would have been unheard of for Santorum and Bush to have endorsed another Republican against the incumbent and it is quite ridiculous to insist otherwise.

The pro-life agenda did not advance under Bush and this Congress? According to the NOW lunatics it has advanced to a dangerous degree LOL We advanced it to a significant legal point with the partial-birth abortion ban and Laci and Conner's Law, both measures that Specter voted to pass, BTW, to the screams of dismay from the leftists.

If you pretend that the conservative agenda did not advance in this regard or any others then you are not viewing the Bush administration with any intellectual honesty.

Please comment on this:

If George Bush didn't know this when he used his influence to get Specter re-elected, then he really is as stupid as the Democrats say he is.

But of course, Bush is not stupid. He knew that by insuring Specter's victory he was ending any chance of putting a pro-lifer on the Supreme Court. That may not have been his goal; it was simply the price he was willing to pay to support an incumbent Republican.

You are correct that some legislative progress was made, and you cite two (the only) examples. It is pathetically little, and of course we can expect the partial birth abortion ban to be overturned by the courts.

Everone knows that NOW will scream hysterically no matter what is going on. I don't take my news from NOW.
