Hostages in Iraq Who Remain Missing
The Associated Press
May 2, 2004
The abduction of Thomas Hamill came at the height of the wave of kidnappings of foreigners sparked by the intense violence that began a month ago. Up to 40 people from several nations were abducted, though most were later freed. Among those still missing:
- An American soldier, Pfc. Keith M. Maupin, who was kidnapped in the same convoy attack as Hamill, a truck driver for a Halliburton Corp. subsidiary. Maupin was seen in separate video footage. Hamill was among seven American contractors kidnapped in the April 9 attack. The bodies of four have been found, and two remain missing. The remains of a second military man missing in the attack, Sgt. Elmer Krause of Greensboro, N.C., were identified April 23.
- Three Italian security guards kidnapped on April 12 as they took a taxi from Baghdad. A fourth Italian who was abducted with them was later executed.

I wonder, since the 'insurgents' doing the terrorism in Iraq are without principles and totally animals, how much has CBS sealed the fate of those now being held by the animals raging in Iraq? ... Of course, the liberal pukes of the media will scoff at the notion, but I am convinced the CBS hit piece at our military, the Koppel effort to solemnize only the deaths of Soldiers in the Iraqi theater, combined with the Fat Teddy and JohnFecklessKerry rhetoric about 'regime change' in America encourages the terrorists working in Iraq all the more and endangers our Soldiers in the theater, unnecessarily. But then, the democrat party doesn't give a damn about our Soldiers, if getting more of them killed or tortured will translate into democrat votes in November.

You got that right. It's clear CBS wants to add to the stress in Iraq because the military was already going after those responsible in that, but CBS just had to go and show it to the world like it's widespread and we do nothing about it. The press enjoys it since they are out to get Bush and they continue to play these games of encouraging our enemies.

Dear Friends and Customers of Nick Berg and Prometheus Towers,
I am enclosing the following news release which my wife and I are about to release to the media for you. If anyone out there in the broadcast industry can do anything to help us spread the word about our son's disappearance especially to the Mid East, we would be very appreciative:
On March 14 our son, Nick Berg, left for Iraq to inspect some radio towers that had been damaged during last years war. His goal was to secure some contract work for his business, Prometheus Methods Tower Service. He planned to return on March 30 through Amman, Jordan.
On March 24, Nick was picked up by the Iraqi police in Mosul and held for questioning for no apparent reason. He was subsequently detained by the U.S. military and interrogated by the FBI until his release on April 6. No reason was ever given for holding him for these 13 days. Immediately upon his release he emailed the family and proceeded south to Baghdad where he was staying at the Al Fanar Hotel.
On April 9 he called us and said that he was seeking a safe route out of the country either through Jordan, or possibly Turkey. Most of the major routes were closed due to military action around Fallujah. Since that time we have had no contact with our son. No one we know in Iraq has seen or spoken to him, and we know that he has not accessed his email. We are extremely worried about his safety. We are asking anyone who has seen Nick or knows anything about his whereabouts to come forward and give us this information so that he can be safely brought home.
We extend our sympathies to all of the many families who are in the same situation.
Suzanne and Michael Berg

You are sadly misinformed and have the "facts" quite wrong. Let me inform you on what you obviously don't know or want to be blind to: Because of the attacks on our soil, Bush waged war on terrorism. Unless you have been in Iraq and seen the atrocities that Saddam plaqued on his people, do not believe everything you see on your TV, from the comfort of your living room. When I go to bed at night I (and the vast majority of soldiers, sailors, marines, and airman) who you claim to support, thank god that Gore was not in the oval office during Sept 11, Bush had the balls to stand up to terrorism and light a fire in many countries to do the same. When we read messages such as yours it is a slap in our faces and we would prefer you keep your comments to yourself or at least quit saying you support the troops.

No words can express the anger I feel towards the members of Al-Qaeda nor the remorse I feel for the family of Nick Berg. It is horrific that such people exist in this world that can do such a terrible act to an innocent young man. I trust the US will not let these actions go unpunished. Those accountable will be brought to justice here on earth, but will find far worse punishment in the afterlife.
I am so deeply sorry for the family and friends of Nick. Be strong.

I made the mistake of viewing the WMV file of Nick's execution. Without a doubt, it's the most horrifying thing I've ever seen. I found myself unable to move, my hands held in horror over my mouth, for at least a minute after the end. I was paralyzed by the gruesome brutality of his murderers, as well as with the utter glee with which they committed this act. I pray the Lord will receive this man into his midst, and that He will comfort Nick's grief-stricken family. I also pray that God will purge these visions from my brain. I'm still in disbelief over what I've seen.

I think CBS and other media sources are actually guilty of treason during war ---- there should be some penalty for that since it is getting American civilians killed. Working for Al Queda certainly is committing treason.

CBS is getting American civilians killed!?!? Let's put the blame where it belongs, on the killers.
First off, it was a horrific action, however it did not shock me. I feel awful for the man's family. Second, the guy knowingly went into a war zone to make damned good money. I have a hard time feeling sorry for someone who goes into enemy territory and gets killed, especially when the motivation is money. Not the sharpest thing to do. He took a risk that he knew was there. That risk didn't pay off for him or his family.
That's quite a stretch trying to blame CBS for the death.

CBS is certainly trying to suppress the truth --- and promoting the side of Sadam and Al Queda while covering up anything that might make people negative toward them.
