The United States on Sunday repeated a $5 million offer for information on those responsible for a Gaza Strip bombing that killed three Americans last October - the latest sign of U.S. disappointment with the Palestinian investigation into the attack.
The offer, published in two Palestinian newspapers, was made due to the Palestinian Authority's slow-moving investigation into the bombing, an American official said on condition of anonymity.
Palestinian authorities still haven't charged anyone in the attack, which killed three American security guards.
It was at least the third time this year the Americans have publicized the reward, another U.S. official said.
The ads were published in the Al-Quds newspaper and Al-Hayat Al-Jadideh, a mouthpiece for the Palestinian Authority. Telephone numbers and e-mail addresses in the United States and at the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv were included in the ads.
Palestinian militants last month stormed a Gaza jail, freeing three of four possible suspects in the bombing who were being held. The four men were arrested in February, but weren't charged directly in the bombing. Instead, they were charged with manslaughter for planting bombs, aimed at Israeli tanks, that might also have hit the American convoy.
A Palestinian military court ruled in March that there wasn't enough evidence to hold the men and ordered them freed. It was unclear why the men were still jailed.
Now make that check out to "cash," if you please ... and don't bother to withhold the taxes.
