Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger wants to make "reinventing government" more than a cliche.
Fulfilling a campaign promise, his California Performance Review commission by June 30 will issue its recommendations for eliminating and consolidating the state's more than 300 agencies, commissions, bureaus, departments and boards. A preview could come as soon as this month.
He announced in his State of the State address in January, "We cannot afford waste and fraud in any department or agency. Every governor proposes moving boxes around to reorganize government. I don't want to move boxes around. I want to blow them up."
Of course, some "boxes" will remain. But the review commission's recommendations, if implemented, certainly would blow up some boxes, shrink some and consolidate others.

Unfortunately, OCRegister.com is now an excerpt only site.
You may have to register, but I don't think they charge for viewing their online version only.
Other sites will have the meat of this thing when the report/recommendations hit the streets.
Like a 2by4, hopefully the demRats and FReeloaders will get it too,,, right between the eyes. ;-)
