Enough of this bs! Every day another roadside bomb or mortar / rocket attack kills more of our troops. Why don't we put a stop to this nonsense? They are trying to drive us out through a war of attrition. Why don't we 'attrition' them more?

"Why don't we 'attrition' them more?" Keep dreaming, it's not in the game plan. The game plan calls for sacrificing more of our young men and women in order to not piss off the Arabs in the region and the Muslims in the world. You could call this a "compassionate" war.

U. S. troops continue to be slaughtered while the U. S. government pursues a policy of compassion and sensitivity as part of its war-lite strategy.
When will our troops get the support -- moral, political, and military -- that they deserve?

From Reuters:
CAMP FALLUJA, Iraq, May 2 (Reuters) - A mortar attack killed six U.S. servicemen in western Iraq on Sunday, Marine Major T.V. Johnson said.
He told reporters the attack was on a military base two hours drive from Falluja, the rebellious city 50 km (30 miles) west of Baghdad, but would give no further details.

George Bush and I agree that Sadamm needed removing. I'm not, however, as compasionate as GWB and I'm not convinced the Iraqis are worth saving. I also don't agree that a democracy can be created there. I do understand that we can't just take out the Sadamm gov't and run. I'm not sure what direction we should take, but I'm sure tired of seeing our troops die. </frustrated and in pain>

I also don't agree that a democracy can be created there. I agree with you on that. There is no interest from the people who live there for a democracy - sure they love Saddam being gone but a democracy is not for them. I hate to say this but they need to be ruled - they need a king.

This is really difficult, how do we limit our casualties. Are desire to limit their casualties maximizes our casualties. The area where the mortar attack came from should be leveled. We seem not to be taking the fight to these people. I say protect the Kurds, leave The Sunnis and Shiities to a civil war and only have ground forces in Kurdistan and bomb liberally the rest of the country.

Why is it that everytime there is a post about a U.S. service member dying it becomes an all out assault on President Bush? I'd expect to see that sort of stuff at DU, but not hear.
I'm not one to change my views just because the road has gotten tough. I suggest we continue to support our president.

Kimmitt was just on FNC and he said that four of our guys died in the initial attack, two more later due to injuries in the attack, and over 20 injured. The attack was in Ramadi.
I expect the terrorists to call Ramadi a "no-go" zone for our troops in the near future, building on their success in Fallujah.

It's hard to "stay the course" when it's unclear what that course is. Resolve and determination but not a replacement for a clear-cut strategy for victory. I don't see one here.
