Why don't you go slither back under the rock from whence you came?

Did I forget my off/sarcasm tag? Lighten up my friend. I posted that because you just know the alphabet media is gonna ask the question.

Beware of trolls and disruptors who pop up on many threads to cast negativity wherever they can. Even when there is no reason for anything but celebration.

Wonder if this was a back alley trade for the Marines pulling out of Fallujia

It is more likely he was released so that the insurgents could score a few propaganda points in light of this Iraqi prison thing. I highly doubt the "escape" scenerio.

Good point.

Ugh! I really hate to be so cynical. It is actually not my normal nature. But in this political season, I think Democrats would do literally anything to make a point.

I guess I just need to rejoice that he is home and ask for forgiveness that I am so suspecting of the other side. :o)

When he was first taken captive my sister kept saying she thought he may be an intelligence agent because he kept his cool so well. I say he is a real Southern gentleman and that makes all the difference. I am so happy that he can come home to his family.

Without a hint of evidence you think Halliburton paid off the jihadists to secure the release of an employee?

Quite the opposite I'd say. Companies like Halliburton who regularly do business in dangerous parts of the world are well aware that paying off kidnappers only creates more kidnapping.

HIs background is very well known. He was a dairy farmer. He was driving a truck to earn money for his family.

And I believe he did escape, despite the doubts of some on this board.

The Sadr militia is full of young, uneducated guys with little patience and lots of bravado. It is not inconceivable that he could have been left alone through negligence or confusion and he took the opportunity to escape.

But I will praise them for saying that Mr. Hammill relied on God and God didn't let him down.

Yeah, that is about the only reason I have any respect for him. He does believe in a higher being besides himself.

Oh, OK...sorry. Got caught up in the excitement. We haven't had much to celebraate here in my current corner of the world. I get a little tired of the Halliburton-bashing. Tommy Hamill is us and we've hoped and prayed for news like this every day.

Good morning.

I hope he did escape. Not only would the terrorists 'lose face,' but the ones who were on guard duty will probably be killed for their mistake. 8^)

Hi Allegra. Thanks for checking in on this thread, I read your posts with great interest. You are creating some excellent memories that you'll have for the rest of your life. I think what you're doing is super.

Thanks, Prairie!

We're riding high over here today. We've had too much dismal news 'round here and we are so happy for Tommy and his family!

Some good news! Amen.
The media has to report this! And the good people in the nation will rejoice.

The down side to all this is the moping about at DU. I'm sure they are all disapointed, that he didn't get his due.

I believe he escaped, too. We'll know the truth soon enough.

His calm manner at capture may be a window into how he acted towards his captors. Maybe he was just so nice and compliant that he lulled them into a lax routine. Very smart if that's how it works out.

>>...I don't mean to be so absolutely abundantly cynical about such great news...<<

It's hard not to be cynical after 8 years of Klinton.

From a BBC report on April 9, " A US truck-driver Thomas Hamill, 43, is seized following an attack on a convoy west of Baghdad. His captors threatened to kill him if the US siege of Falluja was not lifted.

Could the fact that we have pulled out of Falluja been a factor?

I look forward to hearing HIS side of the story. He seems like he would shoot straight on what happened. Of course we have elements of negativity on this board and we have dealt with them before and sadly will again. Some people cannot find joy in anything. They are to be pittied. Thank you God for Mr Hammil's freedom no matter how it came about!!!!

I love that he escaped. Perfect ending. Now, I hope he can lead our troops to his captors. Does anyone know if the family has set up some kind of fund for donations? The reason he went to Iraq was because he lost his family farm...
