Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites), a decorated Navy lieutenant who later protested the Vietnam War, urged veterans on Saturday to "get out there marching again" for better benefits.
Latest headlines: · Kerry Decries Treatment of War Veterans On the anniversary of President Bush (news - web sites) declaring an end to combat operations in Iraq (news - web sites), Kerry held a sometimes emotional breakfast meeting with about a dozen veterans at a the South City Diner in St. Louis.
"We haven't even finished Afghanistan (news - web sites) and we're fighting a war -- mission accomplished?" asked Fields Black, a 33-year-old former Marine who won a combat ribbon in the 1991 Gulf War (news - web sites).
He was referring to Bush's flight-suited May 1 landing on the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln off the coast of California, where he declared major combat operations over beneath a banner that read "Mission Accomplished."
But chaos and the U.S. death toll in Iraq have surged. Six months before the Nov. 2 presidential election, polls show the issue almost as important to voters now as the economy.
Many of the veterans raised questions about both Bush, who served in the Texas Air National Guard and did not go to Vietnam, and Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites), who received five draft deferments. They argued that the Bush administration had neglected them and their issues.
"We really need to get folks out there marching again," Kerry said. "We fought for these things when we came back 35 years ago and we're going to fight for them again."

Will he do a retro medal toss when leading this march? You would think this is something his handlers would gainsay considering the reminders of his antiwar past.

It shows you that Kerry is most confortable in the role of an anti-war protester. I think we finally found the real Kerry.

Perhaps this explains the Vietnam rhetoric of Kennedy, Byrd, Lautenberg and the Kerry Kabal - time to get the marches going.
Pathetic!
To: BlessedByLiberty
Note the timing: the list of the dead being read, pictures of "abuse" of those poor Iraqi terrorists released, and Kerry encouraging marching against the war.
I want to hear from anyone who thinks this is all just a coincidence -- I have bridges to sell.

Gen. Giap Thanks Kerry & Co. for Anti-war Protests
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1128012/posts Celebrating the 29th anniversary of the fall of Saigon, the North Vietnamese general who led his forces to victory said Friday he was grateful to leaders of the U.S. anti-war movement, one of whom was presidential candidate John Kerry.
"I would like to thank them," said Gen. Vo Nguyen Giap, now 93, without mentioning Kerry by name. "Any forces that wish to impose their will on other nations will surely fail," he added.
Reuters, which first reported Giap's comments, suggested that the former enemy general was mindful of Kerry's role in leading some of the highest-profile anti-war protests of the entire Vietnam War.

Thanks for the link, I'm sorry to say I'm not as stunned as I should be by all or any of this.
Kerry's mindless, delayed mid-life crisis is dangerous to America.

I hope "Hanoi Jane" joins him. Then, let the cameras of
ABCNBCCBSCNNFOX roll!
Would be the best free advertising Bush could get.

Kerry is opposing President Bush who proposed increasing fees and co-payments for Vets enlisted in VA programs. Whether this is a good thing, I don't know.
I do believe that America does not want to make VA benefits as cheap as water, otherwise folks will abuse them. Raising co-payments (like Bush proposes) are a time-proven method of restricting demand & saving the taxpayer money.

The intricacies of this are not what interests Kerry, however, he wants the Partisan Press face time, he wants to say Bush isn't doing enough for Vets and he wants to play antiwar protester again.
Nothing else is working for him.

We must not allow this jerk, in the freaking white house.

His senate vote to improve benefits for verterns would be more effective, more quickly. Don't hold your breath, though.

ARGH !!!!
Let's restrict your demands for health care by increasing your medical costs, so we can save tax/insurance money.
Fool!!! vets don't go to the VA for fun, we go because we are sick, and I have yet to meet one who wouldn't rather not be sick and at the VA.

How far off from the truth was the movie Article 99? Raising co-pays isn't the solution. Cutting off government sponsored health care to illegals would help muchly.

It's like he keeps throwing his medals and hoping something sticks.

This is the same Senator Kerry who has not sponsored a single piece of legislation during his entire political career. Kerry has defined himself (to party faithful) as the "War Hero" with the experience to take on President Bush. If Vet's rights were that important to him, he would have had a legislative agenda supporting Vets. Kerry's lack of vision in his political career to at least build a self-serving support base is telling of his lack of vision for a Nation.

I'm a veteran's wife and I'm all for better benefits. It would be nice to know however that the government can pay for them...and maybe it'd be nice to win the war we're in and not give in to terrorism, too.
I'd rather we take care of the active duty troops we have and quit trying to cheap out with contractors all the time, and worry about veterans when the war is over.
Yeah, if we take good care of the active duty troops we'll have more veterans to pay benefits to, but them's the breaks, and that's the next hand.

1. Havent got a clue about the movie. Never even heard of it.
2. raising co-pays doesn't help - we don't go to the VA for FUN.
3. It seems really strange to me, to give all this free care to illegals, and then charge Vets for treating their war wounds.
As I said before - ARGH!!! - Idiots like Teplukin really make me mad.
Teplukin, get off your cowardly butt and get to Iraq defending your own miserable, lazy butt.

And I am sorry, but I don't accept anything that comes out of that phoney's mouth. The fact remains that emand for health services is price sensitive. As doctors get more expensive, people go less often. This is a fact, don't shoot the messanger.
Anyway, the very fact that Kerry recieved a purple heart for being wounded by mere shrapnel should tell you everything you need to know about that loser...
