"They're painting Kerry as a liberal, and it's succeeding. They're painting him as somebody who flip flops, and they're succeeding,"

Hmmm. Who's doing the painting. You can paint a turd but you can't make it stop stinkin'

They should be happy if Kerry gets "Gored". Gore won the popular vote and came within 500 votes of winning Florida and the presidency. I don't think Kerry will be anywhere close to that. Their worry should be that he gets "Mondaled" or "McGoverned".

Song Lyrics: Dead Skunk by Loudon Wainwright

Crossin' the highway late last night
He shoulda looked left and he shoulda looked right
He didn't see the station wagon car
The skunk got squashed and there you are!

You got yer
Dead skunk in the middle of the road
Dead skunk in the middle of the road
You got yer dead skunk in the middle of the road
Stinkin' to high Heaven!

Take a whiff on me, that ain't no rose!
Roll up yer window and hold yer nose
You don't have to look and you don't have to see
'Cause you can feel it in your olfactory

You got yer
Dead skunk in the middle of the road
Dead skunk in the middle of the road
You got yer dead skunk in the middle of the road
Stinkin' to high Heaven!

Yeah you got yer dead cat and you got yer dead dog
On a moonlight night you got yer dead toad frog
Got yer dead rabbit and yer dead raccoon
The blood and the guts they're gonna make you swoon!
You got yer
Dead skunk in the middle of the road
Dead skunk in the middle of the road
You got yer dead skunk in the middle of the road
Stinkin' to high Heaven!

C'mon stink!

You got it!
It's dead, it's in the middle
Dead skunk in the middle!
Dead skunk in the middle of the road
Stinkin' to high heaven!
All over the road, technicolor man!
Oh, you got pollution
It's dead, it's in the middle
And it's stinkin' to high, high Heaven!

Kerry is being "Gored" by the facts, and just the facts!

Ms. Brazile noted that "the Bush team is unusually accomplished in their propaganda techniques." Recalling her time served with the Gore campaign, she said the Republican attacks would capitalize on the realities that people can see for themselves. In effect, the clever use of facts to portray the truth is a novel and chilling method of political calculation and manipulation. Ms. Brazile decried the tactic by saying: " Today, they say the sky is blue and people look up and see that it is so. This reinforces their diabolical ability to convince people that what they are saying is true."

"Their worry should be that he gets "Mondaled" or "McGoverned".

Good point!

And I don't understand this "the Democratic Party is better funded and more united than in 2000". I'm not even sure that is true, certainly not the better funded part, I'm not even sure you could make a good comparison since Campaign Finance Reform has kicked in. And why should they be more united now than they were in 2000? Because everybody hates Bush so much? That may be true of the leadership, but I doubt it's true of the rank and file.

Kerry IS a lot like Gore in the failings he seems to have. But whereas Al Gore could be pedantic and boring, Kerry comes across as arrogant and insufferable. In comparison Kerry makes Gore look like Cary Grant.

I find it hard to believe that the American people will chose the elitist and procratinating Mr. Kerry and his eccentric, green soaked (as one freeper once put it, hip hop style), wife over George & Laura Bush to lead this country. Not only for style, but for substance. I do not think that many Americans want to stop the war on terror and hand dominion over our country to the UN or our presumptive "betters" in Europe. I just cannot see that being the case.

And, not to pride myself but, I better be right, because if I am wrong about what the American people want, we are freaking doomed. DOOMED.

...Hillary lacks charm, but take it from me, Bill does not...

Agreed, and charm is what's missing with JFKerry. Since he cannot win a national election on his record or agenda, his only chance of winning is to attract uninformed voters who make their selection on how they "feel" about the candidate. JFKerry flatlines the Charm-O-Meter and the democrat elite know it.

Yah, this is becoming more clear by the hour. Any passion for Kerry must be manufactured, and on election day, that has to have some effect.

Ms. Brazile noted that "the Bush team is unusually accomplished in their propaganda techniques."

Of course that's the problem. It couldn't possibly be that the democrats' positions are considerably to the left of the American public.

So when democrats are talking to democrats, they say one thing. But they are so convinced of their divine right to govern (and in the media's willingness to cover for them), that they will lie to pretend they are moderates when power is at stake. Thus, when they are talking to Americans as a whole, they say something completely different than they say to their base (or they thrash around in nuance).

The problem is inherent in the situation--they run dishonestly to the middle and govern to the left. There'll always be flip flops.

The real reason this looks like it's personal problems of Gore and Kerry is that our research is getting better.

Interestingly, Republicans have benefitted from the willingness of the media to point out contradictions between the Republican dialog with its base and its dialog with the American public as a whole. The media will pound on any inconsistencies there. So we have had to be more consistent than has the left. Hence, we don't flip flop nearly so much as rats.

I haven't seen Tipper since Gore was gored. Did she really get hugely fat? Any pictures of the poor thing? (I always did feel sorry for her)

"This is the exact moment in 2000 when Gore was seriously damaged as the Bush team painted the former vice president as a "serial exaggerator."'

"They're painting Kerry as a liberal, and it's succeeding. They're painting him as somebody who flip flops, and they're succeeding,"

In each case they were painted with their own words and actions. When your opponent is making a fool of himself, just let him keep talking.

The fact that Kerry is the problem here seems to be lost on them. I'm relieved to see this this anti-war hippy will never get near the white house, I just wish he would be trounced by a 70/30 margin.

Ever notice that the Demoncrats always shriek:

"They're painting us as.....!!!!!"---but they never acknowledge that it is their own lies and deceit that gets them into this mess?

The "painters" can't keep up with filp-flops. The real thing is outdoing the "painters". sKary must have the same makeover/speech coaches as Gored had. He sounds the same (pathetic pathos) just a bit more Polished and French looking than dorky Gorky. People should vote NO before they vote NO.
