My husband tells me this cathedral was a mosque, but before it was a mosque, it was--a CHURCH! Or it was built on the site of a church, that had been destroyed.

Yes, La Mezquita was built on the site of the Visigoth Church San Vicente.
It has been a cathedral for at least 750 years, it was mosque for less than 500.
They can't have it!

There is a mosque on a Hill in Jerusalem. Before it was a mosque it was a Temple. I think in a show of comity and interfaith cooperation, Temple services should be permitted on that site using the islamic principle of original ownership.

The Muslims won't have to worry about this situation in Kosovo. They are burning down all the historic Christian churches and monestaries, clearing the way for future mosques to be built on those sites. It's all been done before and has been their plan for a thousand years.
