"That is a cool form of argument: Argument-by-declaring-your-conclusion-obvious. Hmmm, I'll try that next time I'm backed into a corner. :-) "

It’s the privilege of the majority. [smile] If no further information about this comes out, I’m confident that my opinion will prevail. It’s the force behind the old adage, “extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof”.

As Mississippi red-neck says, it’s rare that officers speak out publicly against the chain of command, at least not immediately. I could turn it around and say with all the criticism of the politics, I’d expect an official statement that the Marines made the decision themselves to back out of Fallujah if it were true.

I’m thoroughly unconvinced by your explanation, and I don’t expect either of us to come to an agreement until more information trickles out. I think we’ve spent enough time working on each other. Time will certainly tell who was behind it.

Inside skinny details on who decided what will require a Woodward book. :-)

The further information we'll see soon will be whether the fallujah brigade approach works. Success has many fathers and failure is an orphan. And whether it actually works or not is the real issue, not who decided this was the best of the choices to take.

okay, I'll release my double-nelson chokehold and call it a draw. :-)
