I got the "He just needs to be spanked more" routine from my father for YEARS. When my mother finally told me she had come to realize he could NOT control his behavior, I sat down and started crying. The judgemental behavior of so many people is devastating for parents trying to find a way to help their children Oh yes. I know exactly what you are saying when you hear " get a handle on that kid" over and over. It hurts so. Glad your son is blossoming. ((((((CYBER HUGS)))))).

My mother compared my daughter with brain damage to a child with down syndrome.
That child went to church and sat quietly with his mother.
My child until she was 5 (or older) wouldn't. My mother just thought I wasn't as good as this other mother.
Special children are very unique, and require a lot of patience.
I just get so mad at people saying it's the parents fault, and that we don't know how to discipline our children.
