So women whose husbands are treating them like cattle don't go before a regular Canadian family court, but go before a *sharia* court?

BIngo. And the intimidation of women and individuals who don't want this but will feel pressured, coerced and even under physical threat will go along with the sharia clause. Disgusting. And the liberal ninnies who use religious freedom ignore and condemn those, particularly women who have breathing emancipated air instead their own BO under their burkas.

Yes, it will be another drain on the government when safe houses for these women have to be established. Some years ago I listened to a Vietnamese describe the problems that the boat people had, especially the men, when they were brought up for wife-beating. Fortunately for the Vietnamese women, they could look to the law for help. The men were told in no uncertain terms that this was a part of their culture that they had to jettison. Too bad that the Canadians won't do that for these women, but will allow an alien culture to gain standing.
