Without doubt. Look, reality check, here...while I've known Sailors who were comitted Christians and scrupulously moral in all they did (all two of them), if any of the good folk hereactually were a "fly on the wall" in a barracks or a ready-room, they'd faint dead away at hearing what the handome, clean-cut lads talk about amongst themselves. Oh, and we have quite a few
females around now, too, and they keep right up with the guys in the raunch department. Toughness is part of the job description.
Soldiers and Sailors cuss, drink, smoke, gamble, tell FILTHY jokes, and when on liberty chase members of the opposite sex like a Democrat chases dollars.
They can be perfect gentlemen and ladies in polite company, but it must be remembered that they are of a hard cast, with rough edges which, whilst perhaps jarring to some, provide them with an advantage in coping with adversity.
After a few months on deployment, just imagine what they're like.

Spc4 Comtessa Demonia.
She was as her name suggested.
And no, I never did hear the story behind the name.
while I've known Sailors who were comitted Christians and scrupulously moral in all they did (all two of them), It's the truly committed Christian who holds you up in prayer while he sees your plane leave the flight deck or tarmac. Long after your glory days have passed and your body is frail and no one but you remembers what you did, that committed Christian you spoke of will still be praying for his fellow man, carrying on the good fight.
It's wrong to equate vulgar and crude behavior with toughness. If you've seen 'The Passion of the Christ' you know what I mean.
