I suppose he can leave God out. God will probably end up leaving him out, after all.

(He's an extreme embarrassment to those of us who live in Washington.)

McDermott is a strange duck. He seems dead set on being charged with either treason or .... who knows? If anyone says that you shouldn't question his patriotism, ask "What patriotism? I've never seen any evidence that he possesses any."

Why didn't he just refuse to lead?
If the Godless man wants to omit the only one who loves him no matter what, then it is his soul that is lost. But this jerk lead the whole room!

IMHO He just wanted the nation to talk about him.
Look At Me! Look At Me!

Interesting politician

You'd think he would LIE about honoring God, just to get elected.

Maybe he's just foolishly thinks that the majority of Americans are atheists.

SURPRISE, Mr. McDumbit!

Sorry to say McDermott is from my state and I believe he is the reason that Washington State thinks their waters are so polluted. He keeps drooling in them.

This old fool didn't omit, Under God, by accident. I saw it on tv, and he remained silent when it got to that phrase. He would have continued on, without pause, if he truly forget that Under God was part of the Pledge.

I have no problem with this.

If his loyalty to Country is greater than his loyalty to God; SO BE IT.

Kids should be allowed to express the order of their loyalties too! With or Without "under God"; The Pledge & its "patriotism message" is valid for America's kids.

Mike DeCesare, said his boss "hesitated, unsure of what he should do because the words 'under God' are under court review."

Then tell his bungholiness that until a court ruling comes out, people with a brain continue as usual.

When asked about yesterday's Pledge incident, Mr. McDermott's spokesman, Mike DeCesare, said his boss "hesitated, unsure of what he should do because the words 'under God' are under court review."

LIAR .. McDermott knew he would get a reaction and that is why he did it

Even if the USSC makes the mistake of removing "under God" from schools, there is NO EXCUSE for removing "under God" from adult recitations.

Remeber when the USSC convenes, part of the Oyez Oyez includes "may God have mercy upon this honorable court".

McDermont is just having trouble because he is trying to put himself as equal in importants to the almighty.

Oh, why bother with the pledge at all. Even "One nation, indivisible" is a mockery with the way the US is getting more and more balkanized.

OK, before you all jump on me, this is exaggeration for effect.

McDermott is one, big horse's ass. There is absolutely zip for excuse for such despicable, childish behavior. If he doesn't like what this country stands for, tell him to get the hell out.

And for Heaven's sake, Washington State, would you people WAKE UP and fire this moron next election, once and for all?????
