RIYADH - Crown Prince Abdullah met Tuesday with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia. The Saudi leader condemned what he said were Israel's continued attacks against the Palestinians.
The official Saudi Press Agency released a statement saying Abdullah condemned "the killings, deportations, demolition of Palestinian's houses and the assassinations and besieging of the Palestinian leaders."
Israel in recent weeks has killed the founder of the Hamas militant group and his successor in Gaza. Over the weekend, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon declared he was no longer bound by a promise to the United States not to harm Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat, who has been holed up in his West Bank headquarters for nearly two years.
Sharon's remarks were criticized in Washington, Europe and the Arab world and raised speculation that Arafat might be in Israel's crosshairs.
Abdullah said "the international community must intervene to halt the Israeli aggression (in the Palestinian territories)."
Qureia arrived in Riyadh on Monday from Egypt where he said his Palestinian Authority was able to control the Gaza Strip if Israel withdraws from the area.
