Well, I think that just about sums it up. There is the Middle East in a nutshell: Arabs stick up another Arab (in order to steal a suicide vest) and get blown up in a suicide attack. Old World meets New World. Poignant and sad.

Assuming these are, in fact, Arab thieves, and their motive was to steal the vest and not simply stop a suicide bomber (they're bad for business, and Arabs are capitalists at heart), then it's not poignant and sad. It's heartening and cheerful.

If they were Mosad or, like Sinbad or Aladdin (or characters like Simon Templar in our recent popular culture), "thieves with a heart of gold," then I wish them God speed.
