[history]
The Hamtramck City Council gave initial approval Tuesday night to allowing mosques in the city to broadcast the Muslim call to prayer over loudspeakers.
The issue, which has divided many of the city's Muslim and Christian residents, has attracted national attention and has evolved from a debate about a noise ordinance to one about religious freedom and tolerance.

I wonder how this will play out. I'm not really sure if there is a constitutional impediment to allowing the loudspeakers to broadcast the call to prayer. I think this will probably end up being solved in the political arena. What do you suppose Kerry will say about this over the next five days?
My guess is he'll have five different and conflicting responses!!!

"Hamtramck is going to be a pioneer city for the whole United States." Sure, its a pioneer city, but I can't imagine that the Muslim residents will allow it to remain named Hamtramck for very much longer. Any guesses on what it will be known as in the future?

Muslims say that its freedom of religion and is a part or their faith Saudi Arabia - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death. Bibles are illegal. Churches are illegal.
Yemen - Bans proselytizing by non-Muslims and forbids conversions. The Government does not allow the building of new non-Muslim places of worship
Kuwait - Registration and licensing of religious groups. Members of religions not sanctioned in the Koran may not build places of worship. Prohibits organized religious education for religions other than Islam
Egypt -Islam is the official state religion and primary source of legislation. Accordingly, religious practices that conflict with Islamic law are prohibited. Muslims may face legal problems if they convert to another faith. Requires non-Muslims to obtain what is now a presidential decree to build a place of worship
Algeria - The law prohibits public assembly for purposes of practicing a faith other than Islam. Non-Islamic proselytizing is illegal, and the Government restricts the importation of non-Islamic literature for distribution.
Jordan - Has the death penalty for any Muslim selling land to a Jew.

Tell me will they allow Christians to pray on the speakers as well. By granting an exception to the noise ordinance to a mosque, the city council is now pretty much required to give an exception to any other religious organization.
Whats next Muslims are allowed to pray at high school football games!
Everyone is free to pray to their heart's content at high school football games.

Muslims have come to the city from Bangladesh, Yemen, Pakistan and other Islamic countries So round them up and export them to an Islamic land.
To: Robert Drobot
Sounds to me like the council caved on this out of fear of a lawsuit that would bankrupt the city. Ten bucks says this loudspeaker gets "vandalized" quite often.

Notching this up a click would you want to live in a city where overriding noise in a foreign tongue ( saying God knows ( the One True One ) what would be blasting into your daily conversation along with quotes from Scripture.
To be 'PC' Scripture would necessarily refain from the use of verses about false prophets and false Gods - to meet ACLU guidelines.

Where are the Christians in this city? Where are the "church leaders"? They should all take a stand together!
Sounds like there aren't any. Thats OK. When this becomes a muSLIME state and we have to "put down" insurgents and terror groups from within, at least no christians will be collateral damage.
I warn Michigan and it's HIGH POPULATION of muSLIMES:
The rest of the USA. WILL NOT, I mean WILL NOT ALLOW. WE WILL NOT ALLOW ISLAM TO OVERPOWER OUR PEOPLE! You found a place with yellow-belly people who give only lip service to the Christian God. Elsewhere, HIS NAME is called and HE the ALPHA, THE OMEGA, HE, THE ONE TRUE GOD - LISTENS.

Nope. I think the politicians here pretty much screwed themselves. From now on, they'll be hardpressed to turn down any request for exceptions to the noise ordinance. If they'd been smart, they should have said no exceptions for anyone.
