From the night scope, it looks like there is some small arms fire coming in, but I would bet that the Marines pulled back to a point to carefully watch the conflagration.
It's a huge mess, and the reports from FNC are saying that the AC-130 was called in to do some work. Since it is roughly 11:45pm local time, The AC-130 wouldn't be in too much danger of S-t-A munitions.
More explosions are now going up on the night scope which said was ~1km out.

Yes, interesting. May only be a coincidence, but it's also interesting that the firefight in Damascus happened the same evening as the big roundup in Fallujah seems to have begun.

Tell your company you need FNC!
Since I'll have to do, The pool producer with the Marines says that the explosions are on "insurgent positions", and the scope is showing 2 major fires in the city (in the NW corner of town.)

Since the Marines have shut of Fallujah, their tactics at this point seem to consist of sending small probing teams into enemy territory, and then either engaging them directly or falling back and then calling in the big equipment. Either way they have really seized momentum, despite the "cease fire." Did you read the story the other day about the ambush that the Marines set? It was pretty sweet.

I can only try. We used to have it, up until about six months ago.

Trying to scan through the replies on this thread...has it occurred to anyone that Syria is a Ba'athist state and a long time ally of Saddam? That the embassies they're attacking are coalition embassies, with the exception of Saudi...but we know al Qaeda is also at war with the Saudi royal family for control of that Wahhabist country?

This attack on Fallujah this is a concentrated push to eliminate 2 points (per Bret Baer on FNC)
taking out IED and also ammo coming in.

Sadr's south of Fallujah in Najaf.
But, if AC-130s could skywrite, they'd write, "SADR, YOU'RE NEXT"

Right now, FNC is now on the situation on Fallujah and ignoring Syria.
I've got it on good authority that the situation in Syria is more under the radar, with whatall is going on. i'd just keep my eyes open on Syria in the next week or so.....
