I am beginning to doubt that it will be Kerry.

I'd take a long bet it's Kerry - because the Clintons won't allow anyone else. This year's candidate has to lose, and make Hillary look good in comparison. The only question is whether the Clintons think there's a chance to beat Bush. If they do, then Hillary is the VP. If not, maybe she will be anyway.

And there's no way I'd be the heartbeat that keeps Hillary away from the Presidency. Anyone remember William Henry Harrison?
