Remember? It was supposed to be a walk over. There would be little occupation or need for defense against an insurgent movement.
The Iraqi military would surrender with minimal resistance (as it did) and the entire country would welcome us with flowers and open arms (which did happen most places) and all Iraqis would immediately turn against thousands of years of cultural heritage and embrace democracy - which did not happen.

You may have gotten that impression. But as I recall, Bush was pretty clear it would take some time to stabilize Iraq.

True, hasn't happened yet. Well, some have embraced it. The folks coming in from Iran, however, are sent there to stir up anti-democracy sentiment among the nutcases. As Bush indicated from the beginning, it will take time to stabilize Iraq.
