Echo Co. recounts tragic battle
By: DARRIN MORTENSON - Staff Writer
FALLUJAH, Iraq ---- Two Marines were killed and at least 13 more wounded in Fallujah on Monday in a bloody street battle fought close enough that the combatants tossed grenades and fired pistols at each other, officials said.
TOPICS: Extended News; Foreign Affairs; News/Current Events; War on Terror
KEYWORDS: fallujah; iraq; marines; mortenson
Key quote:" "let us finish it." Peace talks and cease fire are only giving the insurgents time to get stronger." As long as the State Dept., White House, and central command in Baghdad remain in denial(easy to do when not facing death on these streets and greatest risk is getting makeup in eye in t.v. studio), the risk increases for these Marines.

[Sgt.] Skiles said the politicians and military planners should let the Marines take the town.
After saying that during the cease-fire his men have been "shot at, sniped, and mortared" every day, Skiles said the only solution was to "terminate them (the rebels)."
"Let us finish it," he said, adding that the peace talks and cease-fire are only giving the insurgents time to get stronger.

Prayers to keep your son safe, and to bring everyone's sons and daughters home with mission accomplished ASAP.
If anyone thinks this war will be won with diplomacy, I encourage them to read "Idiots Guide to Islam."

(There are very few shades of gray.)

"let us finish it." I agree, they need to finish it. They need to finish it in such a way that as few marines are killed and wounded as possible and as many insurgents are killed as possible.

(An optimist believes we live in the best of all possible worlds, a pessimist fears this is true.)
