Read "Abandonment of the Jews" which says FDR's lack of action regarding the Holocaust was not due to ignorance of it (a silly idea) but a belief that it wasn't politically necessary.

I recall seeing interviews on a PBS program of some of FDR's surviving cabinet members. One Jewish member was quite upset when FDR told his cabinet "We are a Protestant nation...you Jews and Catholics are here by suffrage." There were also allegations that FDR opposed Jewish immigration with a statement "I'm not sure they are such good people."
FDR, prior to Pearl Harbor, repeatedly told Americans in radio addresses: "I have said it before and I will say it again and again....your boys will not be sent to a foreign war"
