Hi all-
My mom indeed did have a stroke last week as I suspected. Fortunately, her vision is affected but there is no paralysis. She can't drive, obviously, and may not ever be able to drive but it could have been a lot worse.
After discussing my trip with the doctor, he thought it would be ok for me to go to San Diego - so I did. Since she was pretty ok after 24 hours, he felt like things were fairly stable.
I got home late last night - however, my luggage is still in limbo.....
I missed FR while I was gone - no computers available! I missed most of the hoo-hah about the prisoner story. Probably a good thing for me. ;)

Sorry to hear about yer mom, especially so close to Mother's Day. It is encouraging to know she made out as well as she did, though...with strokes, it seems like the potential problems can run the gamut.
Look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

BTW...good luck with yer luggage...LOL!!

Sorry about your mom. Taking care of aging parents is a burden I'm familiar with. My mother-in-law moved in with us in November and promptly injured her hip. So she had hip replacement in February. She's doing well with that.
We had to go to NC this weekend for wife's uncle's funeral (her dad's brother). So Nana was pretty tired. Told us yesterday she'd been short of breath for a couple of days and that her left side "just didn't feel right."
So wife and Nana spent 6 hours in the ER yesterday. Happy Mother's Day.
Good news is that it was likely not her heart, although she needs to see her regular doctor. This was probably stress. We did find out though that she was doubling up on her fluid medication. Taking the regular prescription and the generic, because she thought it was something different.

Consider yourself fortunate. It has been excruciating. Had to tune out the news for a few days.
Thanks for the update on your mom. It must have been pretty scary for her. I know it is a comfort for her to have family nearby.
