I wonder whether he is possibly doing that
intentionally in order to make points with the
public. Like the first time, he wanted to say
how crooked these "guys" are and couldn't outright.
This time, if the people think the media is against
him sentiment will turn to him? Could that be it.
If so, can we expect more "accidents" with microphones?

I think the media/Kerry conspiracy theory is too convoluted to be true.
Do you really think the on-camera meltdown today was part of a brilliantly-hatched plot to show the candidate in an unfavorable light, and to catch him in a lie so that the voting public would rally to his defense at the voting booth, saying, "He may be a liar, but he's OUR liar and we want him for our President, so lay off of him, you meanies!"?
IMHO you're giving them WAY too much credtit. If they were so smart, why would have they have that repulsive cadaver, Lurch, center-stage in the first place?
